Risk 01: Carriers Rejecting Your Load at the Port
Flat Rack and Open Top shipments require NCB inspection and exact specifications before the carrier accepts. Without a provider who knows the process, your cargo doesn't move — and detention costs accumulate.
Risk 02: Inadequate Securing That Invalidates Your Claim
OOG cargo that arrives damaged due to poor block & brace or insufficient lashing creates a claims nightmare. Insurers deny coverage when securing standards weren't met. The loss is entirely yours.
Risk 03: No Specialized Network When You Need It Most
Not every warehouse partner handles OOG, hazmat, or project cargo with specialized equipment. Using a general provider for complex cargo means corners get cut — or the operation simply can't be executed.

What is an NCB inspection and when is it required?
NCB (National Cargo Bureau) inspection verifies that cargo on Flat Rack containers is properly secured and the load is safe for ocean transport. Some carriers require it mandatorily; others allow it at the client’s request. We always recommend it and coordinate the inspection as part of the operation. Note: NCB inspection for Flat Rack is only available as part of our transloading service — it is not offered as a standalone service.
Can you handle overweight containers?
Yes, with location-specific limitations. Overweight containers (20′ over 39,000 lbs / 40′ over 44,000 lbs) are handled at major ports. Availability is more limited at rail terminals and secondary cities. We confirm feasibility before quoting every project — never assume and never commit to what we can’t deliver.
What information do you need to quote a project cargo operation?
To provide an accurate quote we need: cargo dimensions and weight, container type (Flat Rack, Open Top, or standard OOG), port or location, origin and destination, timeline, and any special requirements (hazmat, bonded, NCB, specific carrier). The more detail you provide, the faster and more accurate our quote will be.
Is OOG cargo available at all U.S. locations?
OOG capacity is concentrated at major port cities (Miami, Houston, NJ/NY, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Savannah). Coverage at rail terminals and inland locations is limited and handled case-by-case. We source the closest capable partner and confirm availability before committing to any operation.
Do you coordinate cargo insurance for project freight?
Yes. Cargo insurance is a separate service that we can coordinate alongside your project cargo operation. Given the value and complexity of project freight, we strongly recommend All-Risk coverage. Our team can provide a quote for both services simultaneously so your cargo is protected from the moment it moves.
